Privacy
Our Ridgewood Events is a community bulletin board for browsing events, RSVPing and paying the organizers. This page says what is stored, who handles it and how to have it deleted.
What is stored
- When you sign in. Your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your Google profile name. They are kept in a cookie in your browser, not in an account database. Records about you are filed under an id derived from your email address.
- When you RSVP. The name you enter, your email address, the number of people in your party, any note you write, whether you are attending, your payment status (unpaid, sent or confirmed) and whether you were checked in at the event.
- In your browser. The name and party size from your last RSVP are kept in this browser's local storage to fill in the next RSVP form. Clearing your site data removes them.
- Notifications and email choices. The in-app notifications sent to you (payment confirmations and announcements) and which emails you have switched off.
- Sign-in and access attempts. A sign-in request by email is kept for 15 minutes. Counts of sign-in emails per email address and per IP address, and of wrong event codes, are kept to limit abuse. The email and IP address are stored as keyed hashes, not as readable values.
Payments happen in Venmo or Zelle, outside this site. No card or bank details are collected here; the site only records the payment status you and the organizers set.
Who can see it
The event organizers see the RSVPs for their events: name, party size, notes, payment status and check-in. Other attendees do not see your RSVP.
Cookies
Cookies are used only for signing in and event access, and all are httpOnly. ridgewood_user_session keeps you signed in for up to 90 days and holds your id, email address and name. ridgewood_event_access_… remembers that you entered an event's access code, for at most 30 days. ridgewood_oauth_pending and ridgewood_login_request last a few minutes while you sign in. There are no analytics or advertising cookies and no trackers.
Who handles your data
- Netlify hosts the site and stores the records described above.
- Google is used only to sign in. The site asks for the
openid, emailandprofilescopes, nothing else, and does not keep Google's access token or ask for a refresh token. - Resend delivers email: sign-in links, RSVP confirmations, reminders and event updates. It receives your email address and the content of each message.
- Pusher delivers in-app notifications as they happen. It receives your id and the notification text.
- Brrr notifies the organizers when you RSVP, edit, cancel or mark a payment as sent. It receives your RSVP name, the event and the details of that action.
- Sanity holds the event listings. It holds no information about members.
Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared for advertising.
Sign-in emails and RSVP confirmations are always sent. Reminders, announcements and event-change notices can be switched off under My Events or with the unsubscribe link in any of those emails.
How long it is kept, and deleting it
RSVPs, notifications and email choices are kept until you ask for them to be deleted. Signing out removes the sign-in cookie from your browser. To have your data deleted, or to ask what is stored about you, email ourridgewood@gmail.com from the address you sign in with.
